When your licence returns with provisional entitlement book a Driving Assessment with System Group − call the booking office on 0845 737 1491, the assessment will enable us to judge your ability and recommend the correct course duration.
Study the ‘The Official Theory Test for Drivers of Large Vehicles’ the tests are not carried out by driving schools, they are organised by the DSA. Just like the car theory test, you can take LGV Theory Test in most towns and cities. To book the LGV Theory Test yourself call the DSA on 0870 0101 372 or book online at www.dsa.gov.uk or ring our office.
A hazard perception test is carried out consisting of a number of video clips showing a vehicle driving on the road from the driver’s view and during the test the candidate will have to indicate, by using the computer, when they think a hazard has or is about to occur. Candidates have 70 minutes to answer 60 test questions. Pass mark is 51 correct answers. There are over 1000 questions to choose from.
There will be 14 different moving scenes on the Hazard Perception test screen. The scenes will have one hazard to identify and one scene will have 2 hazards to identify. You will not be told which clip this is. The 14 scenes will be taken from a bank of 200.
You will have to identify the moving hazard by clicking a mouse. For example, a car pulling out in front of you, as quickly as possible. You will be given a ‘window of time’ in which to spot the hazard. The score will depend on how soon you identify the hazard − the longer they take, the lower their score. You will score a zero mark if you either click too late, or repeatedly.
